We believe real change often begins with one moment of support – one person reaching out, one connection made, one opportunity offered. Based in Aurora, Colorado, we are a growing nonprofit committed to helping individuals navigate recovery, homelessness, or reentry by connecting them to the resources they need to begin again.
Butterfly Effect Incorporation is a nonprofit based in Aurora, Colorado, supporting individuals and families affected by substance use, housing instability, reentry challenges, and other barriers to stable housing. Our mission is to connect people with safe, supportive housing options and offer financial assistance for rent, deposits, down payments, or short-term mortgage relief when eligible.
Not yet. We don’t operate our own housing facilities, but we partner with a wide range of recovery homes, transitional housing providers, and community resources across Colorado. Based on your situation, we’ll help match you with a housing option that aligns with your needs and goals, and when possible, offer financial support to help you get started.
We want to make sure your housing placement is the right fit, not just the first available. After you fill out a short application, we’ll begin a screening process within 24 hours. We consider things like your income, employment, recovery or reintegration goals, and any other circumstances that might affect eligibility. Our goal is to place you somewhere that truly supports your next steps toward stability.
No. There is no cost to you for our placement services. In some cases, we can help cover costs such as first month’s rent, a security deposit, a portion of a down payment for qualified homebuyers, or even a month’s mortgage payment for those facing foreclosure. Future costs are arranged between you and the housing provider or lender, and we’ll help ensure they are sustainable for your situation.
Please still reach out. We may have a provider or funding solution in our network that can accommodate your needs, even if others have said no. Every situation is unique, and we’ll do our best to advocate for a path forward.
We work with a variety of supportive housing, transitional residences, and recovery homes that meet certain quality standards. Some facilities are highly structured, while others offer more flexibility. We’ll help match you with the type of housing that best fits your circumstances and long-term goals.
Every provider is different. Some have specific rules about age, sobriety, employment, criminal history, or mental health. That’s why we screen first, so we can guide you toward a housing option—or financial assistance program—where you’re more likely to be accepted and supported.
Once you submit an application or contact us, we’ll respond within 24 hours to begin the screening process. From there, we work as quickly as possible to find the best fit—sometimes within a few days, depending on availability and eligibility.
We’re actively building partnerships and expanding our services. You can support us by donating, sharing our mission, or connecting us with other organizations that care about recovery and housing. Visit our Support Us page for details.
It’s a reminder that small actions can lead to big changes. One moment of compassion, one opportunity, or one safe place to land can completely shift a person’s future—and that’s exactly what we aim to offer.
Your support helps us build partnerships, strengthen connections, and offer individuals a pathway to recovery and stability.
